Top Scottish hairdresser and international session stylist Nelson Brown has returned from the Spring 2009 menswear shows in Milan with fresh inspiration for male clients. Working backstage as part of a team led by Raphael Sally, Nelson created youthful, sporty looks for Italian label CP and Company, using Forfex Professional.
“Twenty-three boys graced the catwalk wearing the collection. The look was minimal and effortless both in clothes and hair styling,” explains Nelson.
“Cool shades of silver, light blue and brown combined with lightweight fabrics give this collection a modern edge. Hair was left undressed and organic to create a loose undone finish that is nonchalantly understated.”
This is the second time Nelson has been invited to the world’s fashion capital to work backstage following a stint at the Autumn/Winter 08/09 women’s wear shows in February.
Nelson says, “Working on the menswear collections was a great experience. The looks we created are ultra-wearable and perfect for my team to pass on to fashion-conscious male clients in the salon who wish to stay effortlessly on-trend during the coming seasons.”
Label: CP and Company, Spring 2009, Milan
Inspiration: A youthful glimpse of masculinity with a sporty feel. Hair was tweaked to make the boys look young, fresh, sporty and new.
Get the look: Hair was cut with a raw edge using the Forfex Professional Power Definer 2 and left loose and free. It was dried freehand with no product then pinned back at the front to give an organic look. Just before the boys stepped out onto the catwalk, the hair was un-pinned and dressed with using bumble and bumble sumo tech matt wax to leave no trace of shine.
