Getting the best leg waxing results with Satin Smooth

Step 1

Preparation. Remove the lid and place the pot into your Satin Smooth heater, turn the dial onto 10 and heat the wax for approximately 15 minutes until it has a thin consistency.
Turn the heater down to around 5 and allow it to stablise for around 20 minutes so that you have the perfect working temperature. Mix thoroughly and test the temperature on the inside of your own wrist.
Before waxing, complete a client consultation and check over the area carefully for cuts, grazes or irregularities and note the direction of the growth.
Be aware of circulatory problems such as varicose veins.

Apply Satin Smooth Calm & Prepare lotion. This has extracts of pink grapefruit, mandarin & Lime, which have excellent antiseptic properties. This product will cleanse, cool and calm the skin.

Step 2

Wipe over with a cotton wool pad to remove the Calm & Prepare along with traces of oil, perspiration and bacteria. This will ensure the perfect conditions for effective waxing.

Step 3

Dip a wooden spatula 1/3 way into the wax and scrape off all of the wax from one side (to aid application and prevent dripping), keeping the spatula at a 45 degree angle, apply the wax in a thin layer with the direction of the hair growth. Cover as large an area as possible whilst remaining practical, cover the entire length of the leg just below the knee to the ankle. Ask the client to roll her leg around. remember apply with and remove against hair growth .

Step 4

Starting at the ankle, place a fabric or paper strip over the area leaving a 2" gap to hold. Smooth down gently, but firmly and then using a quick, firm action pull off in the opposite direction of application. Try to keep the hands parallel to the legs when removing to minimise the pain and maximise the result.

Step 5

Immediately "pat" the skin to confuse the nerve ending and comfort the skin and client. You only need to gently place your hand on the area for a few seconds.

Step 6

Apply wax to the sides and top of the knee in a "horseshoe" pattern, with the leg bent.

Step 7

Apply wax to the front of the knee with the leg bent. Place a strip over the area, smooth down firmly and remove. The front of the knee can be difficult to wax due to the fact that this area of the skin can be dry and thicker. New mums, (who can spend a lot of time kneeling to tend to their baby) can be particularly prone. If the wax does not come off cleanly, place a clean strip over the wax and remove in an alternative direction.

Step 8

Apply Satin Smooth Soothe & Hydrate lotion. This product had been especially formulated for the legs and body and has a high concentrate of emmollients to calm, soothe and hydrate the skin. It is easily absorbed and non greasy. It contains an intensive moisturing blend of botanical extracts including Aloe Vera, cucumber, chamomile, arnica, calendula and allantoin skillfully blended with multi vitamins collagen and mucopolysaccharides.

Step 9

To finish the treatment, lightly massage the whole area. Soothe & Hydrate will reduce redness and leave skin feeling comfortable, soft and refreshed. It should be recommended for home use and is also sold in a 250ml size for this purpose. It is essential to follow home care in-between visits. Due to Soothe & Hydrate´s excellent soothing and nourishing properties, regular use will discourage in-growing hairs and significantly improve the appearance of the skin.
It has a soothing, calming and replenishing effect and so makes it an excellent after-sun lotion.

At the end of each day, clean your heater and surrounding area with Satin Smooth Spring clean. This is an effective yet gentle solvent formulated to remove wax from your heater and surfaces without damage. Always patch test on an inconspicuous place on work surface or wood finishes before use.
